Clove leaf essential oil is used in aromatherapy for relief of joint pain from aches and strains or throat-soothing relief from cold related coughs. Therapeutic action for clove leaf is attributed to a tandem of active compounds, eugenol and beta-caryophyllene. For topical use, carrier oils such as argan, tamanu, or coconut blend well.

Adults: Mix with vegetable oil for topical application. Use undiluted for direct or steam inhalation. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes; if this happens, rinse thoroughly with vegetable oil. For occasional use only.
